RSS operates one and two bedroom condominiums through the HUD Section 811 program for persons with Developmental Disabilities. In order to qualify for this program, the primary applicant, meaning, the person whose name will be the main name on the lease, must have a developmental disability such as: Mental Retardation, Cerebal Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Autism etc. or have a Traumatic Brain Injury that occurred before their 22nd birthday. Having a physical disability or a Mental Health diagnosis alone will not qualify. All applicants must also meet HUD’s low-income guidelines.
Rent is equal to 1/3 of your monthly income and includes all utilities except for cable and telephone. The units are located in various complexes in East Charlotte. Each unit come with refrigerator, range and has central A/C. Microwave ovens are not provided. The units are unfurnished.
Currently we do not have any vacant condominiums. We do have a waiting list, however, vacancies do not come up frequently as we do not have many units.
If you believe that you meet the qualifications I’ve described and would like an application, please call (704) 536-6661 and ask the receptionist to mail you an application. Please be prepared to give your name and mailing address. The application will have instructions on how to fill it out and where to mail it. Once we have received your application, you will be added to our waiting list.
If you have any further questions, please contact Lori Gougeon at the RSS phone number above.
Thank you.
